Jazz at The Pavilion 2007

Picnic Jazz with Joanna Eden

Despite the poor weather during the previous few months, Picnic Jazz decided to go ahead with the event in August 2007. We managed to secure the services of an outstanding young musician to perform at The Pavilion. Joanna Eden had supported Jamie Cullum and Narina Pallot in front of 10,000 people at a concert at Audley End and had been invited back to support the Buena Vista Social Club in July. She is an accomplished pianist who accompanies herself on the piano with a mix of jazz classics, self penned songs and standards performed in a jazz style. With Joanna following in the footsteps of Jamie Cullum, Jacqui Dankworth, Gwyneth Herbert and Sarah Moule we all enjoyed another quintessentially English afternoon of picnics and jazz with copious supplies of PIMM'S and tea and cakes available in the refreshment tent in the delightful gardens of The Pavilion in Orford. Although ticket sales were down on previous years almost £1,000 was raised for local good causes with special thanks due to Mrs Sue Tristem for her efforts in selling an average of £5 of raffle tickets to everyone who attended.

If you haven't  had the opportunity to relax and enjoy this event in the past you may have missed your chance as the venue is currently being sold. However we are hopeful that we can negotiate with the new owners to continue the event. If we are successful, treat yourself in 2008, it is a low key event that attracts a good number of the audience back year after year and it also raises funds for local charities. Look out for details.
