Picnic Jazz again managed to secure the services of an outstanding young musician to perform at The Pavilion this year. Multi award winning Liane Carroll has worked with many artists ranging from Sir Paul McCartney and Gerry Rafferty to Ladysmith Black Mambazo.. She is a regular performer at Ronnie Scott's jazz club in London, and has several current albums out. In 2005 she won two awards in the BBC Jazz Awards: Best Vocalist and Best of Jazz. She is an accomplished pianist who accompanies herself on the piano with a mix of jazz classics, self penned songs and standards performed in a jazz style. With Liane following in the footsteps of Jamie Cullum, Jacqui Dankworth, Gwyneth Herbert, Sarah Moule and Joanna Eden we enjoyed another quintessentially English afternoon of picnics and jazz with copious supplies of Pimms, beer and tea available in the refreshment tent in the delightful gardens of The Pavilion in Orford. If you haven't had the opportunity to relax and enjoy this event in the past, treat yourself next year, it is a low key event that attracts a good number of the audience back year after year and it also raises funds for local charities.
